Revelation

Chapter 1

Prologue

1 The revelation of Jesus Christ athat God gave to Him to show to His bondservants, things that must shortly come to pass. And bHe sent and signified it by His angel to His bondservant John,

2 cwho testified to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, to all things dthat he saw.

3 eBlessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things that are written in it, for the time is fat hand.

Greetings

4 John, to the seven churches that are in Asia. Grace to you and peace from gHim who is and hwho was and who is to come, and ifrom the seven spirits who are before His throne,

5 and from Jesus Christ, the jfaithful kwitness, the lfirstborn from the dead, and mthe ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him nwho loves us and owashed us from our sins in His own blood,

6 and has pmade us to be a kingdom, priests to His God and Father, qto Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

7 Behold, He is coming with the rclouds, and every eye will see Him, and sthose also who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.

8 t“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, u“who is and who was and who is to come, the vAlmighty.”

The Son of Man

9 I, John, your brother and wcompanion in the tribulation, and in the xkingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was on the island that is called Patmos because of the word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.

10 yI was in the Spirit on the zLord’s Day and heard behind me aa loud voice as the sound of a trumpet,

11 saying, “What you see, write on a scroll and send it to the seven churches, to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamos and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea.”

12 And I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned, bI saw seven golden lampstands.

13 cAnd in the middle of the seven lampstands I saw done like the Son of Man, eclothed with a garment down to the feet and fdressed around the chest with a golden sash.

14 His head and His ghair were white like wool, as white as snow. And hHis eyes were like a flame of fire.

15 And iHis feet were like fine brass, as if they were refined in a furnace. And jHis voice was like the sound of many waters.

16 And kHe had in His right hand seven stars. And lout of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword. And mHis face was like the sun shining in its strength.

17 So nwhen I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. Then oHe laid His right hand on me, saying, “Do not fear. pI am the first and the last.

18 q“I am He who lives. And I was dead, and behold, rI am alive forevermore. And sI have the keys of death and of Hades.

19 “Therefore, write the things that you have tseen and uthe things that are, and vthe things that will be after these things,

20 “the mystery of the seven stars that you saw in My right hand, and the seven golden lampstands. The seven stars are wthe angels of the seven churches. And xthe seven lampstands are the seven churches.”

Chapter 2

Message to Ephesus

1 “To the angel of the church of Ephesus write, ‘These things says aHe who holds the seven stars in His right hand, bwho walks in the middle of the seven golden lampstands.

2 c‘I know your works and your labor and your patience, and how you cannot bear those who are evil. And dyou have tested those ewho say they are apostles, and are not, and have found them liars.

3 ‘And you have perseverance and patience. You have labored for My name’s sake and have fnot become weary.

4 ‘Nevertheless, I have this against you, that you have left your first love.

5 ‘Therefore, remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the first works, or gelse I will come to you quickly and will remove your lampstand out of its place—unless you repent.

6 ‘But this you have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.

7 h‘He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give ito eat of the jtree of life that is in the paradise of God.’”

Message to Smyrna

8 “And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write, ‘These things says kthe first and the last, who was dead and came to life.

9 ‘I know your works and tribulation and poverty. But you are lrich. And I know the blasphemy of mthose who say they are Jews and are not, nbut are a synagogue of Satan.

10 o‘Do not fear those things that you will suffer. Behold, the devil will cast some of you into prison so that you may be tested. And you will have tribulation ten days. pBe faithful unto death and I will give you qthe crown of life.

11 r‘He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes will not be hurt by sthe second death.’”

Message to Pergamum

12 “And to the angel of the church in Pergamum write, ‘These things says tHe who has the sharp two-edged sword.

13 ‘I know your works and where you dwell, even where Satan’s throne is. And you hold fast to My name and have not denied My faith, even in those days in which Antipas, My faithful martyr who was killed among you where Satan dwells.

14 ‘But I have a few things against you because you have there those who hold the teaching of uBalaam, who taught Balak to cast a stumbling block before the children of Israel, vto eat things sacrificed to idols and wto commit fornication.

15 ‘So you also have those who hold the teaching of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.

16 ‘Therefore, repent, or else I will come to you quickly. And I xwill fight against them with the sword of My mouth.

17 ‘He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give of the hidden ymanna. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a znew name written that no one knows except he who receives it.’”

Message to Thyatira

18 “And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write, ‘These things says the Son of God awho has His eyes like a flame of fire and His feet are like fine brass.

19 b‘I know your works and love and service and faith and your patience. And as for your works, the last are greater than the first.

20 ‘Nevertheless, I have a few things against you because you tolerate that woman cJezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and teaches and deceives My bondservants dto commit fornication and to eat things sacrificed to idols.

21 ‘And I have given her time eto repent of her fornication, but she does not want to repent.

22 ‘Behold, I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of her ways.

23 ‘And I will kill her children with death. And all the churches will know that I am He who fsearches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works.

24 ‘But I say to you and to the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this teaching and who have not known the gdeep things of Satan, as they call them, hI will put on you no other burden.

25 ‘But iwhat you have already, hold fast until I come.

26 ‘And he who overcomes and keeps jMy works unto the end, kto him I will give power over the nations—

27 l‘and he will rule them with a rod of iron. As the vessels of pottery, they will be broken to pieces’—just as I received from My Father.

28 ‘And I will give him mthe morning star.

29 ‘He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’”

Chapter 3

Message to Sardis

1 “And to the angel of the church in Sardis write, ‘These things says He who ahas the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars. I know your works, that you have a name that you live, but you are dead.

2 ‘Be watchful and strengthen the things that remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found your works completed before My God.

3 b‘Therefore, remember how you have received and heard. Hold fast and crepent. dTherefore, if you will not watch, I will come on you eas a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come on you.

4 ‘Nevertheless, you have fa few names in Sardis who have not gdefiled their garments. And they will walk with Me hin white, for they are worthy.

5 ‘He who overcomes, the same iwill be clothed in white garments. And I will not jblot his name from the kBook of Life. But lI will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.

6 m‘He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’”

Message to Philadelphia

7 “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, ‘These things says nHe who is holy and otrue, who phas the key of David, qHe opens and no one shuts, and rshuts, and no one opens.

8 s‘I know your works. Behold, I have set before you tan open door, and no one can shut it, for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name.

9 ‘Behold, I will make uthose of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie—vI will make them come and fall down before your feet, and to know that I have loved you.

10 ‘Because you have kept My word to persevere, wI also will keep you from the hour of trial that will come on xthe whole world to test those who dwell yon the earth.

11 z‘I am coming quickly. aHold fast what you have, so that no one takes byour crown.

12 ‘He who overcomes, I will make ca pillar in the temple of My God, and he dwill not go out anymore. And eI will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the fNew Jerusalem, that gcomes down out of heaven from My God. hAnd I will write on him My new name.

13 i‘He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’”

Message to Laodicea

14 “And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write, j‘These things says the Amen, kthe faithful and true witness, lthe ruler of the creation of God.

15 m‘I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either cold or hot.

16 ‘So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of My mouth.

17 ‘You say, n“I am rich and increased with goods and have need of nothing.” But you do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked.

18 ‘I counsel you oto buy from Me gold refined in the fire so that you may be rich, and pwhite garments so that you may be clothed, and the shame of your nakedness not be revealed. And I will anoint your eyes with eye salve so that you may see.

19 q‘As many as I love, I rebuke and rchasten. Therefore, be zealous and repent.

20 s‘Behold, I stand at the door and knock. tIf anyone hears My voice and opens the door, uI will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

21 ‘To him who overcomes vI will grant to sit with Me on My throne, just as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.

22 w‘He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’”

Chapter 4

The Throne in Heaven

1 After this I looked, and behold, aa door was opened in heaven. And the first voice that I heard was like ba trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here and I will show you things that must take place.”

2 Then immediately cI was in the Spirit. And behold, da throne was set in heaven and One sitting on the throne.

3 And He who was sitting was like ea jasper and a sardius stone. And fthere was a rainbow around the throne, like an emerald in appearance.

4 gAnd around the throne were twenty-four thrones. On the seats I saw twenty-four elders sitting, hclothed in white garments. And they had crowns of gold on their heads.

5 Now out of the throne proceeded ilightnings and thunderings and voices. And there were jseven lamps of fire burning before the throne that are kthe seven Spirits of God.

6 Before the throne there was la sea of glass like crystal. mIn the midst of the throne and around the throne, were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back.

7 nThe first living creature was like a lion, and the second living creature like a calf, and the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle.

8 The four creatures, each one of them having osix wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day and night, saying, p“Holy, holy, holy, qLord God Almighty, rwho was and is and is to come.”

9 Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, swho lives forever and ever,

10 tthe twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever. And they cast their crowns before the throne, saying,

11 u“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, vfor You created all things, and because of wYour will they were created and have their existence.”

Chapter 5

The Scroll and the Lamb

1 Then I saw in the right hand of Him who sat on the throne aa scroll written inside and on the back, bsealed with seven seals.

2 I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, c“Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?”

3 And no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to look into it.

4 So I wept much because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to look into it.

5 And one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Behold, dthe Lion of the tribe of eJudah, fthe Root of David, ghas overcome hto open the scroll and its seven seals.”

6 Then I looked in the center of the throne that was encircled by the four living creatures and the elders, and there stood ia Lamb as if it had been slain, having seven horns and jseven eyes that are kthe seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth.

7 He came and took the scroll out of the right hand lof Him who sat on the throne.

8 Now when He had taken the scroll, mthe four living creatures and twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one of them holding harps and golden bowls full of incense that are nthe prayers of the saints.

9 oThey sang a new song, saying, p“You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, for You were slain and qhave redeemed us to God rby Your blood out of every tribe and language and people and nation.

10 You have made them to be sa kingdom and tpriests to our God. And they will reign on the earth.”

11 Then I looked and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders. And the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands,

12 saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the uLamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.”

13 And vevery creature that is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying, w“Blessing and honor and glory and power be to Him xwho sits on the throne and to the Lamb forever and ever.”

14 Then the four living creatures said, “Amen.” And the elders fell down and worshiped.

Chapter 6

The Seals

1 Then aI saw when the Lamb opened one of the seven seals. And I heard bone of the four living creatures saying as with a voice of thunder, “Come!”

2 Then I saw, and behold, ca white horse. And dHe who sat on it had a bow. And ea crown was given to Him. And He went out fconquering and to conquer.

3 When He had opened the second seal, gI heard the second living creature say, “Come!”

4 hThen there went out another horse that was red. And power was given to him who sat on it ito take peace from the earth, and that men should kill one another. And there was given to him a great sword.

5 Then when He had opened the third seal, jI heard the third living creature say, “Come!” And I looked, and behold, ka black horse. And he who sat on it had a pair of lscales in his hand.

6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures say, “A measure of wheat for a denarius and three measures of barley for a denarius. And see that you mdo not harm the oil and the wine.”

7 Now when He had opened the fourth seal, nI heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!”

8 oThen I looked, and behold, a pale horse. And his name who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, pto kill with sword and with famine and with death and with qthe wild beasts of the earth.

9 And when He opened the fifth seal, I saw under rthe altar sthe souls of those who had been slain tfor the word of God and for uthe testimony which they held.

10 They cried out with a loud voice, saying, v“How long, O Lord, wholy and true, xuntil You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?”

11 Then ya white robe was given to each one of them. And it was said to them zthat they should rest for a little while longer until the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who were to be killed as they had been killed, was completed also.

12 Then I looked when He had opened the sixth seal. aAnd there was a great earthquake. And bthe sun became black like sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became like blood.

13 cThe stars of heaven fell to the earth as a fig tree drops her unripe figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind.

14 dThe heaven departed like a scroll when it is rolled up. And eevery mountain and island was moved out of their places.

15 fThe kings of the earth and the great men and the rich men and the chief captains and the mighty men and every bondservant and every free man, ghid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains.

16 hThen they said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who isits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb,

17 “for the great day of His wrath has come, jand who will be able to stand?”

Chapter 7

The 144,000

1 Now after these things I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, aholding the four winds of the earth, bso that the wind would not blow on the earth or on the sea or on any tree.

2 I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God. And he cried out with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was given to harm the earth and the sea,

3 saying, c“Do not harm the earth, or the sea, or the trees, until we have sealed the bondservants of our God don their foreheads.”

4 eAnd I heard the number of those who were sealed. f144,000 gof all the tribes of the children of Israel were sealed.

5 Of the tribe of Judah twelve thousand were sealed. Of the tribe of Reuben twelve thousand were sealed. Of the tribe of Gad twelve thousand were sealed.

6 Of the tribe of Asher twelve thousand were sealed. Of the tribe of Naphtali twelve thousand were sealed. Of the tribe of Manasseh twelve thousand were sealed.

7 Of the tribe of Simeon twelve thousand were sealed. Of the tribe of Levi twelve thousand were sealed. Of the tribe of Issachar twelve thousand were sealed.

8 Of the tribe of Zebulun twelve thousand were sealed. Of the tribe of Joseph twelve thousand were sealed. Of the tribe of Benjamin twelve thousand were sealed.

The Great Multitude

9 After these things I looked, and behold, ha great multitude that no one could number, iof all nations and tribes and people and languages, stood before the throne and before the Lamb, jclothed with white robes and palm branches in their hands.

10 And they cried out with a loud voice, saying, k“Salvation to our God lwho sits on the throne and to the Lamb.”

11 mAnd all the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures. Then they fell before the throne on their faces and nworshiped God,

12 osaying, “Amen, blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever. Amen.”

13 And one of the elders answered, saying to me, “Who are these who are dressed in pwhite robes, and from where did they come?”

14 Then I said to him, “Sir, you know.” And he said to me, q“These are those coming out of the great tribulation. And they have rwashed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

15 “Therefore, they are before the throne of God and serve Him day and night in His temple. And He who sits on the throne will sdwell among them.

16 t“They will hunger no more, nor thirst anymore, nor will uthe sun beat down on them, nor any heat.

17 “For the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne vwill shepherd them and will lead them to fountains of the waters of life. wAnd God will wipe away all tears from their eyes.”

Chapter 8

The Seventh Seal & the Golden Censer

1 Now awhen he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.

2 bI saw the seven angels who stood before God, cand to them were given seven trumpets.

3 Then another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer. And there was given to him much incense so that he should offer it with dthe prayers of all saints on ethe golden altar that was before the throne.

4 And fthe smoke of the incense with the prayers of the saints ascended before God out of the angel’s hand.

5 Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and cast it onto the earth. And gthere were noises and thunderings and hlightnings and ian earthquake.

6 And the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.

The First Four Trumpets

7 The first angel sounded, and there followed jhail and fire mingled with blood. And they were thrown kto the earth, and a third of the earth was burned up, and la third of the trees were burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.

8 The second angel sounded, and msomething like a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea. And na third of the sea obecame blood.

9 pA third of the living creatures that were in the sea and had life died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.

10 The third angel sounded, and there fell qa great star from heaven, burning like a lamp, and rit fell on a third of the rivers and on the fountains of waters.

11 sThe name of the star is called Wormwood. tA third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the waters because they were made bitter.

12 uThe fourth angel sounded, and a third of the sun was smitten, and a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them were darkened. And the day did not shine for a third of it, and the night in the same way.

13 Then I looked and vheard an eagle flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, w“Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabitants of the earth because of the remaining blasts of the trumpet of the three angels who are about to sound!”

Chapter 9

The Fifth and Sixth Trumpets

1 The fifth angel sounded, and aI saw a star fall from heaven to the earth. And to him was given the key to bthe abyss.

2 Then he opened the abyss, and there arose a smoke out of the pit, like the smoke of a great furnace. And cthe sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke of the pit.

3 Then there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth. And to them was given power dlike the scorpions of the earth have power.

4 They were commanded that they should enot harm fthe grass of the earth, nor any green thing, nor any tree, but only those men who do not have gthe seal of God on their foreheads.

5 They were not permitted to kill anyone, hbut to torment them for five months. And their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when he strikes a man.

6 In those days imen will seek death and will not find it. They will desire to die, and death will flee from them.

7 jThe shapes of the locusts were like horses prepared for battle, and kon their heads were crowns like gold, and ltheir faces were like the faces of men.

8 They had hair like the hair of women, and mtheir teeth were like the teeth of lions.

9 They had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was nlike the sound of chariots with many horses running to battle.

10 They had tails like scorpions, and there were stings in their tails. Their power was to hurt men for five months.

11 They had a king over them, othe angel of the abyss. His name in Hebrew is Abaddon, but in Greek he has the name Apollyon.

12 pOne woe is past. Behold, there are still two more woes coming after these things.

The Sixth Trumpet

13 Then the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the qgolden altar that is before God,

14 saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at rthe great Euphrates River.”

15 Then the four angels were released, who had been prepared for an hour and a day and a month and a year, so that they would kill sa third of men.

16 The tnumber of the army uof the horsemen was two hundred million. vI heard the number of them.

17 And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and those who sat on them had breastplates of fire and of jacinth and of brimstone. wThe heads of the horses were as the heads of lions, and out of their mouths came fire and smoke and brimstone.

18 By these three plagues a third of mankind was killed — by the fire and by the smoke and by the brimstone that came out of their mouths.

19 For the power of the horses was in their mouths and xin their tails, for their tails were like serpents that have heads, and with them they do harm.

20 And the rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues ydid not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship zdemons and aidols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk.

21 They did not repent of their murders, nor bof their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

Chapter 10

The Little Scroll

1 I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud. And aa rainbow was on bhis head, and his face was like the sun, and chis feet like pillars of fire.

2 He had in his hand a little scroll that was open. And dhe set his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the earth.

3 And he cried out with a loud voice like a lion roars. And when he had cried out, eseven thunders uttered their voices.

4 When the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write. But I heard a voice from heaven saying, f“Seal up those things that the seven thunders uttered and do not write them.”

5 Then the angel whom I saw standing on the sea and on the earth glifted up his right hand to heaven,

6 And he swore by Him who lives forever and ever, hwho created heaven and the things that are on it, and the earth and the things that are in it, and the sea and the things that are in it, ithat there should be delay no longer.

7 But jin the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound, the mystery of God would be finished, as He declared to His servants the prophets.

8 Then the voice that I heard from heaven spoke to me again. And it said, “Go, take the little scroll that is open in the hand of the angel who stands on the sea and on the earth.”

9 So I went to the angel and said to him, “Give me the little scroll.” And he said to me, k“Take and eat it. It will make your stomach bitter, but it will be in your mouth sweet as honey.”

10 Then I took the little scroll out of the angel’s hand and ate it. And lit was in my mouth sweet as honey. And as soon as I had eaten it, mmy stomach became bitter.

11 Then he said to me, “You must prophesy again before many peoples and nations and languages and kings.”

Chapter 11

The Two Witnesses

1 Now there was given me aa measuring rod. And I was told, b“Rise and measure the temple of God and the altar, and those who worship in it.

2 “But leave out cthe court that is outside the temple, and do not measure it, dfor it is given to the Gentiles. And they will etread the holy city under foot for fforty-two months.

3 “I will give power to my two gwitnesses, hand they will prophesy i1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth.”

4 These are the jtwo olive trees and the two lampstands standing before the Lord of the earth.

5 If any man wants to harm them, kfire proceeds out of their mouth and devours their enemies. lAnd if any man wants to harm them, he must be killed in this manner.

6 These mhave power to shut heaven, so that it does not rain during the days of their prophecy. And they have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues as often as they desire.

7 When they have nfinished their testimony, othe beast that ascends pout of the abyss qwill make war against them. And he will overcome them and kill them.

8 Their dead bodies will lie in the street of rthe great city, which is spiritually called Sodom and Egypt, swhere also their Lord was crucified.

9 tThose from the people and tribes and languages and nations will see their dead bodies three and a half days, and will unot permit their dead bodies to be put into graves.

10 vThose who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them and celebrate. And they will wsend gifts to one another xbecause these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth.

11 yNow after three and a half days, zthe breath of life from God entered them and they stood upon their feet. And great fear fell on those who saw them.

12 Then I heard a great voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here.” And athey ascended to heaven bin a cloud, and ctheir enemies watched them.

13 In the same hour dthere was a great earthquake and ea tenth of the city fell. And in the earthquake 7,000 men were killed. And the rest were terrified and fgave glory to the God of heaven.

14 gThe second woe is past. Behold, the third woe is coming quickly.

The Seventh Trumpet

15 Then the hseventh angel sounded. iAnd there were great voices in heaven, saying, j“The kingdom of this world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ. And kHe will reign forever and ever.”

16 The ltwenty-four elders who sat before God on their thrones fell on their faces and mworshiped God,

17 saying, “We give You thanks, O Lord God Almighty, the nOne who is and who was, because You have taken Your great power and have oreigned.

18 “And the nations were penraged, and Your wrath came. And the time came that the qdead should be judged, and that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints and those who fear Your name, small and great, and should destroy those who destroy the earth.”

19 The rtemple of God was opened in heaven and there was seen in His temple the ark of His covenant. And sthere were lightnings and sounds and thunderings and an earthquake, and tgreat hail.

Chapter 12

The Woman and the Dragon

1 Then there appeared a great wonder in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.

2 And being with child, she cried out ain labor and in pain to give birth.

3 Then there appeared another wonder in heaven, and behold, ba great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads.

4 cHis tail drew a third dof the stars of heaven and ethrew them to the earth. And the dragon stood fbefore the woman who was ready to give birth, gin order to devour her child as soon as it was born.

5 Then she brought forth a male child hwho was to rule all nations with a rod of iron. And her child was icaught up to God and His throne.

6 Then jthe woman fled into the wilderness where she had a place prepared by God, so that they should feed her there k1,260 days.

7 Now there was war in heaven. lMichael and his angels fought magainst the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought,

8 but did not prevail, nor was a place found for them any longer in heaven.

9 Then nthe great dragon was cast out, othat old serpent called the devil and Satan, pwho deceives the whole world. qHe was cast out to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

10 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, r“Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been cast down, he swho accuses them before our God day and night.

11 “And tthey overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony. And uthey did not love their lives to the death.

12 “Therefore, vrejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them. wWoe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea, for the devil has come down to you, having great wrath xbecause he knows that he has a short time.”

13 Now when the dragon saw that he was cast to the earth, he persecuted ythe woman who brought forth the male child.

14 zAnd the woman was given two wings of a great eagle aso that she might fly binto the wilderness, into her place where she is nourished from the presence of the serpent cfor a time, and times, and half a time.

15 Then the serpent dspewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, so that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood.

16 And the earth helped the woman. And the earth opened her mouth and swallowed up the flood that the dragon spewed out of his mouth.

17 So the dragon was enraged with the woman. And he went to make war with the rest of her seed who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus.

Chapter 13

The Sea Beast

1 And I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a abeast rising up out of the sea, bhaving seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns and on his heads the names of cblasphemy.

2 The beast that I saw was like a leopard, and his feet were like those of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. And dthe dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

3 Then I saw one of his heads eas if it had been mortally wounded. And his deadly wound was healed. And fall the world was amazed and followed the beast.

4 They worshiped the dragon who gave power to the beast. And they worshiped the beast, saying, g“Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?”

5 Now there was given to him ha mouth speaking great things and blasphemies. And power was given to him to make war iforty-two months.

6 So he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name and jHis tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven.

7 And it was given to him kto make war with the saints and to overcome them. lPower was given him over all tribes and peoples and languages and nations.

8 And all who dwell on the earth will worship him, mwhose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain nfrom the creation of the world.

9 oIf any man has an ear, let him hear.

10 pHe who leads into captivity will go into captivity. qHe who kills with the sword must be killed with the sword. rHere is the patience and the faith of the saints.

The Land Beast

11 Then I saw another beast scoming up out of the earth. And he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon.

12 He exercises all the power of the first beast in his presence. And he causes the earth and those who dwell on it to worship the first beast, twhose deadly wound was healed.

13 uSo he performs great wonders, vso that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men.

14 wHe deceives those who dwell on the earth xby the signs that he had power to do in the presence of the beast, saying to those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who had the wound by a sword yand lived.

15 It was given to him to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast would both speak and zcause to be killed as many as would not worship the image of the beast.

16 And he causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bondservant, ato receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads,

17 and that no one may buy or sell, except the one who has the mark or bthe name of the beast or cthe number of his name.

18 dHere is wisdom. Let him who has eunderstanding calculate fthe number of the beast, gfor it is the number of man. And his number is six hundred and sixty-six.

Chapter 14

The Lamb and the 144,000

1 Then I looked, and behold, the aLamb stood on Mount Zion, and with Him b144,000, having His name and His Father’s name cwritten on their foreheads.

2 And I heard a sound from heaven, as the sound of many waters and das the sound of a great thunder. And the sound I heard was as eharpers harping with their harps.

3 They sang as it were a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders. And no one could learn that song fexcept the 144,000 who were redeemed from the earth.

4 These are the ones who were not defiled with women, gfor they are virgins. These are the ones hwho follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These iwere redeemed from among men, jbeing firstfruits to God and to the Lamb.

5 And kin their mouth was found no deceit, for lthey are without fault.

The Three Angels

6 Then I saw another angel mfly in the midst of heaven, nhaving the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth, and oto every nation and tribe and language and people.

7 He said with a loud voice, p“Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come. And qworship Him who made heaven and earth and the sea and the fountains of waters.”

8 Then another angel, a second, followed, saying, “Fallen is rBabylon the great, swhich made all the nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.”

9 Then another angel, a third, followed them, saying with a loud voice, t“If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his umark on his forehead or on his hand,

10 the same vwill drink of the wine of the wrath of God that is wpoured out in full strength into xthe cup of His indignation. And yhe will be tormented with zfire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.

11 “And athe smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever. And there is no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.”

12 bHere is the patience of the saints. cHere are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.

13 Then I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write, d‘Blessed are the dead ewho die in the Lord from now on.’” “Yes,” says the Spirit, f“so that they may rest from their labors, for their works follow gthem.”

Harvesting the Earth

14 Then I looked, and behold a white cloud, and on the cloud was one like the Son of man, having on His head a golden crown and in His hand a sharp sickle.

15 And another angel hcame out of the temple, crying out with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud, i“Thrust in Your sickle and reap, for the time has come to reap, for the harvest jof the earth is ripe.”

16 Then He who sat on the cloud thrust in His sickle on the earth and the earth was reaped.

17 And another angel came out of the temple that is in heaven. He also had a sharp sickle.

18 And another angel came out from the altar who had power over fire. And he cried out with a loud cry to him kwho had the sharp sickle, saying, l“Thrust in your sharp sickle and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth, for her grapes are fully ripe.”

19 Then the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth and gathered the vine of the earth, and threw it into mthe great winepress of the wrath of God.

20 And nthe winepress was trodden ooutside the city. And blood came out of the winepress pup to the horses’ bridles, for 1,600 furlongs.

Chapter 15

The Seven Plagues

1 And aI saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous, bseven angels having the seven last plagues, cfor in them the wrath of God is finished.

2 I saw something like da sea of glass emingled with fire. And those who have the victory over the beast and fover his image and over gthe number of his name, standing on the sea of glass, hhaving harps of God.

3 They sing ithe song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the jLamb, saying, k“Great and marvelous are Your works, Lord God Almighty. lJust and true are Your ways, King of the nations.

4 mWho will not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For You only are nholy. For oall the nations will come and worship before You, for Your judgments have been manifested.”

5 Then after these things I looked and pthe temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened.

6 And the seven angels who had the seven plagues came out of the temple, qclothed in pure and white linen, and having their chests girded with golden sashes.

7 rOne of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls full of the wrath of God, swho lives forever and ever.

8 tAnd the temple was filled with smoke ufrom the glory of God and from His power. And no one was able to enter the temple until the seven plagues of the seven angels were finished.

Chapter 16

Bowls of God’s Wrath

1 Then I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to athe seven angels, “Go and pour out the seven bowls bof the wrath of God on the earth.”

2 Then the first went and poured out his bowl con the earth. And there fell a dloathsome and malignant sore on the men ewho had the mark of the beast and fworshiped his image.

3 And the second angel poured out his bowl gon the sea, and hit became like the blood of a dead man. And ievery living soul in the sea died.

4 And the third angel poured out his bowl jin the rivers and fountains of waters, and kthey became blood.

5 And I heard the angel of the waters say, l“You are righteous, You mwho are and was and will be, because You have judged these things.

6 For nthey have shed the blood oof saints and prophets, pand You have given them blood to drink, for they deserve it.”

7 Then I heard another from the altar saying, “Even so, qLord God Almighty, rtrue and righteous are Your judgments.”

8 And the fourth angel poured out his bowl son the sun, and tpower was given to him to scorch men with fire.

9 And men were scorched with great heat, and they ublasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues. And vthey did not repent so as wto give Him glory.

10 And the fifth angel poured out his bowl xon the throne of the beast. And yhis kingdom became full of darkness. And zthey gnawed their tongues because of pain.

11 They blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores. And they did not repent of their deeds.

12 And the sixth angel poured out his bowl aon the great Euphrates River, and bits water was dried up cso that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared.

13 And I saw three unclean dspirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of ethe dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of fthe false prophet.

14 For they are the spirits of devils, gperforming signs, who go forth to the kings of hthe whole world to gather them to ithe battle of that great day of God Almighty.

15 j“Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches and keeps his garments, klest he walk naked and they see his shame.”

16 lAnd they gathered them together into a place called in Hebrew, Armagedon.

17 And the seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven from the throne, saying, m“It is done.”

18 Then nthere were noises and thunders and lightnings. oThere was a great earthquake, psuch as there had not been since men were on the earth, so mighty an earthquake and so great.

19 And qthe great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And rgreat Babylon swas remembered before God, tto give her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of His wrath.

20 And uevery island fled away and the mountains were not found.

21 Then there fell on men a great hail out of heaven, each hailstone about the weight of a talent. And men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, for the plague was exceedingly great.

Chapter 17

Woman on the Beast

1 Then aone of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying, “Come here. bI will show you the judgment of cthe great harlot dwho sits on many waters,

2 ewith whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and fthe inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.”

3 So he carried me away in the spirit ginto the wilderness. And I saw a woman sit hon a scarlet beast that was full of inames of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

4 And the woman jwas arrayed in purple and scarlet, and kadorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, lhaving in her hand a golden cup mfull of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication.

5 And on her forehead was a name written, n“MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.”

6 And I saw othe woman drunk pwith the blood of the saints and with the blood of qthe martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement.

7 Then the angel said to me, “Why did you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and ten horns.

8 The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to rascend out of the abyss and sgo into destruction. And those who tdwell on the earth uwill marvel, vwhose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet will be.

9 w“Here is the mind which has wisdom: xThe seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits.

10 There are seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come. When he comes, he must yremain a short while.

11 The zbeast that was, and is not, is himself also an eighth, and is of the seven, and goes into perdition.

12 a“The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast.

13 These are of one mind, and they give their power and authority to the beast.

14 bThese will make war with the Lamb, and the cLamb will overcome them, dfor He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and ethose who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.”

15 Then he said to me, f“The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, gare peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues.

16 The ten horns which you saw on the beast, hthese will hate the harlot, make her idesolate and jnaked, eat her flesh, and kburn her with fire.

17 lFor God has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose, to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, muntil the words of God are fulfilled.

18 And the woman whom you saw is nthat great city owhich reigns over the kings of the earth.”

Babylon is Fallen

1 Now aafter these things I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great power. bAnd the earth was illuminated with his glory.

2 And he cried out with a mighty voice, saying, “Fallen! Fallen is cBabylon the Great! She dhas become the habitation of demons and a prison for every unclean spirit, and ea prison for every unclean and hateful bird.

3 “For all the nations fhave drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. The kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and gthe merchants of the earth have become rich through the abundance of her luxury.”

4 Then I heard another voice from heaven, saying, h“Come out of her, my people, so that you do not partake of her sins, and that you do not receive her plagues.

5 iFor her sins have reached up to heaven, and jGod has remembered her iniquities.

6 kRender to her just as she rendered to others, and repay her double according to her works. lIn the cup that she has mixed, mmix twice as much for her.

7 nTo the degree that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, in the same measure give her torment and sorrow; for she says in her heart, ‘I sit as a oqueen, and am not a widow, and will not see sorrow.’

8 “Therefore her plagues will come pin one day—death, mourning, and famine. And qshe will be utterly burned with fire, rfor strong is the Lord God who judges her.

9 sAnd the kings of the earth who committed fornication and lived luxuriously with her twill weep and lament for her uwhen they see the smoke of her burning,

10 standing at a distance because of the fear of her torment, saying, v‘Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! wFor in one hour your judgment has come.’

11 “The xmerchants of the earth will weep and mourn over her, for no one buys their merchandise anymore—

12 yThe merchandise of gold, silver, precious stones, pearls, fine linen, purple, silk, and scarlet, and all citron wood, every article of ivory, and every article of precious wood, bronze, iron, and marble,

13 “and cinnamon, incense, ointment, frankincense, wine, oil, fine flour, wheat, cattle, sheep, horses, chariots, and zsouls of men.

14 “The fruit that you longed for has departed from you, and all things that were luxurious and splendid have vanished from you and will never be found again.

15 “The merchants of these things who became rich by her will stand at a distance for fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,

16 and saying, ‘Alas, alas, athat great city bthat was clothed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and adorned with gold, precious stones, and pearls!

17 cFor in one hour such great riches came to nothing!’ And devery shipmaster, all passengers and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood at a distance

18 eand cried out when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, f‘What city is like this great city?’

19 gThey threw dust on their heads and cried out, weeping and wailing, saying, ‘Alas, alas, that great city, in which all who had ships on the sea became rich by her wealth! hFor in one hour she is made desolate.’

20 iRejoice over her, O heaven, and you saints and apostles and prophets, for jGod has avenged you on her!”

21 Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, k“Thus with violence the great city Babylon shall be thrown down, and lshall not be found anymore.

22 mThe sound of harpists, musicians, flutists, and trumpeters shall not be heard in you anymore. No craftsman of any craft shall be found in you anymore, and the sound of a millstone shall not be heard in you anymore.

24 “And rin her was found the blood of prophets and of saints, and of all who swere slain on the earth.”

Rejoicing Over Victory

1 After these things aI heard a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying, “Hallelujah! bSalvation and glory and honor and power belong to our God!

2 “For ctrue and righteous are His judgments, because He has judged the great harlot who corrupted the earth with her fornication. He dhas avenged the blood of His bondservants on her.”

3 And again they said, “Hallelujah! And eher smoke rises up forever and ever!”

4 Then the ftwenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who sat on the throne, saying, g“Amen! Hallelujah!”

5 And a voice came from the throne, saying, h“Praise our God, all you His bondservants and you who fear Him, iboth small and great.”

6 jThen I heard something like the voice of a great multitude and like the voice of many waters and like the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, “Hallelujah, for kour Lord God, the Almighty, reigns.”

7 “Let us be glad and rejoice and give honor to Him, for lthe marriage of the Lamb has come, and His bride has made herself ready.”

8 And mto her it was granted to clothe herself in fine linen, clean and white, nfor the fine linen is the righteousness of the saints.

9 Then he said to me, “Write, o‘Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’” And he said to me, p“These are the true sayings of God.”

10 Then qI fell at his feet to worship him. And he said to me, r“Do not do that. I am your sfellow servant, and of your brethren twho have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the utestimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

11 vThen I saw heaven opened, and behold, wa white horse. And He who sat on it was called xFaithful and True, and yin righteousness He judges and makes war.

15 And fout of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. gHe will rule them with a rod of iron, and hHe treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

16 And iHe has on His robe and on His thigh a name written, jKING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

18 l“that you may eat the flesh of kings, captains, mighty men, horses, and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all people, both free and bond, both small and great.”

19 mThen I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army.

20 nAnd the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who performed signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast, and othose who worshiped his image. pThese two were cast alive into the lake of fire qburning with brimstone.

Chapter 20

The Thousand Years

1 And I saw an angel coming down from heaven, ahaving the key to the abyss and a great chain in his hand.

2 And he laid hold of bthe dragon, that old serpent who is the Devil and Satan. And he bound him for a thousand years.

3 Then he cast him into the abyss and shut him up, and cset a seal on him dso that he should not deceive the nations anymore until the thousand years were finished. And after that he must be released for a little time.

4 And I saw ethrones and those who sat on them. fJudgment was given to them. And I saw gthe souls of those who had been beheaded for the witness of Jesus and for the word of God, and hwho had not worshiped the beast inor his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads nor on their hands. And they jlived and kreigned with Christ a thousand years.

5 But the rest of the dead did not live until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

6 Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over these lthe second death has no power. But they will be mpriests of God and of Christ, and nwill reign with Him a thousand years.

The End of Satan

7 And when the thousand years have ended, Satan will be released from his prison.

8 And he will go out oto deceive the nations who are in the four corners of the earth, pGog and Magog, qto gather them together to battle. The number of them is like the sand of the seashore.

9 rSo they went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them.

10 Then the devil who deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, swhere also are the beast and the false prophet. And they twill be tormented day and night forever and ever.

Judgment of the Dead

11 And I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face uthe earth and the heaven fled away. vAnd there was found no place for them.

12 Then I saw the dead, wsmall and great, stand before the throne. And xthe books were opened. And yanother book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged from the things that were written in the books, zaccording to their works.

13 Then the sea gave up the dead who were in it. And aDeath and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And bthey were judged every one according to their works.

14 Then cDeath and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. dThis is the second death, the lake of fire.

15 And whoever was not found written in the book of life ewas cast into the lake of fire.

Chapter 21

The New Jerusalem

1 And aI saw a new heaven and a new earth, bfor the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. And there was no more sea.

2 And I saw cthe holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared das a bride adorned for her husband.

3 I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, “Behold, ethe tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they will be His people. And God Himself will be with them and be their God.

4 fAnd God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. And gthere will be no more death hnor sorrow nor crying. Nor will there be any more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

5 And iHe who sat on the throne said, j“Behold, I make all things new.” And He said, “Write, for kthese words are true and faithful.”

6 Then He said to me, l“It is done! mI am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. nI will freely give to him who is thirsty of the fountain of the water of life.”

7 “He who overcomes will inherit all things. And oI will be his God and he will be My son.

8 pBut the cowardly and unbelieving and the abominable and murderers and immoral people and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars will have their part in qthe lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

9 Then there came to me one of rthe seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues. And he talked with me, saying, “Come here. I will show you sthe bride, the Lamb’s wife.”

10 Then he carried me away tin the Spirit to a great and high mountain and showed me the uholy city, Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,

11 vhaving the glory of God. And her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal.

12 And she had a great and high wall with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels. And names were written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel.

13 xThere were three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west.

14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and yon them the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

15 And he who talked with me zhad a golden measuring rod to measure the city and its gates and its wall.

16 And the city is laid out as a square, and its length is as great as the width. And he measured the city with the rod: twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.

17 And he measured its wall: one hundred forty-four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.

18 The material of the wall was jasper. And the city was pure gold, like clear glass.

19 aAnd the foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all kinds of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, emerald;

20 The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprase; the eleventh, jacinth; the twelfth, amethyst.

21 And the twelve gates were twelve bpearls. Each gate was of one pearl. And cthe street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.

22 dAnd I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.

23 eAnd the city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine, for the glory of God illuminated it, and the Lamb is its light.

24 fAnd the nations of those who are saved will walk in the light of it, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it.

25 gAnd its gates shall not be shut at all by day, for hthere will be no night there.

26 iAnd they will bring the glory and honor of the nations into it.

27 And jby no means will there enter into it anything profane or one who defiles, or whoever works abomination, or makes a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s kBook of Life.

Chapter 22

The Tree of Life

1 And he showed me aa river of the water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

2 bIn the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the ctree of life that bore twelve kinds of fruit, each tree yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree were dfor the healing of the nations.

3 And ethere will be no more curse, fbut the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it. And His gservants will serve Him.

4 hThey will see His face, and iHis name will be on their foreheads.

5 jThere will be no night there. And they do not need the light of a lamp nor klight of the sun, for the lLord God gives them light. And mthey will reign forever and ever.

6 Then he said to me, n“These sayings are faithful and true.” And the Lord God of the spirits of the prophets osent His angel to show to His bondservants the things that must pshortly take place.”

The Coming of Jesus

7 q“Behold, I come quickly. rBlessed is he who keeps the sayings of the prophecy of this book.”

8 I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I had heard and seen, sI fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things.

9 Then he said to me, t“Do not do that, for I am your fellow bondservant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the sayings of this book. Worship God.”

10 uThen he said to me, “Do not seal the sayings of the prophecy of this book, vfor the time is at hand.

11 “He who is unjust, let him continue to be unjust. And he who is filthy, let him continue to be filthy. And he who does right, let him continue to do right. And he who is holy, let him continue to be holy.”

12 “And behold, I come quickly, and wMy reward is with Me, xto give to everyone according to his work.

13 y“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”

14 zBlessed are those who wash their robes so that they may have the right ato the tree of life, and bmay enter in through the gates into the city.

15 For coutside are ddogs and sorcerers and immoral people and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and makes a lie.

16 e“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things for the churches. fI am the root and the offspring of David, gthe bright and morning star.”

17 And the Spirit and hthe bride say, “Come.” And let him who hears say, “Come.” And ilet him who is thirsty come. And whoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

18 For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book, jif anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book.

19 If anyone will take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, kGod will take away his part out of the tree of life, and out of the holy city and the things that are written in this book.

20 He who testifies these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with all the saints. Amen.
